Fab - that's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks for the link - almost seems like being picky to mention that they aren't actually indicating the chords they're playing. A lot of fun nonetheless. I'm off to make one for myself - perhaps if I can get tuned party-blowers, I could get them to actually make the right pitched sounds?
PS did you know, you can drill a hole the length of a carrot, close one end, drill some finger-holes into the carrot to meet up with the long central one, stick a party blower mouthpiece in the end and play the carrot?
That last one can save a would be piper a lot of money, couldn’t it? I like the carrot whistle idea. Reminds me of a use for an apple, a pin, and tin foil back in the early seventies, only we weren’t bored, just desperate.
That last one can save a would be piper a lot of money indeed. He could also earn money whilst practicing as a mobile artificial insemination unit - he could do a whole herd at a time whilst playing some suitably rustic old timey tune....
Well I guess I could Iris but then I would have to face the mirror just to know what chords to play. I know, I'll bring one Saturday night along with one of those mirrors that hang around your neck. Aye, now that I think about it though using a mirror may cause me to play the chords backwards. Jeez, this is becoming awfully complicated.
And if you hang around after watching that one, when they start listing other videos you might like, you get fiddle and pipes, entered by "Ptarmi" - well I never.
Ack! I lead a group of teenagers at what used to be a Bluegrass Jam, but has steadily devolved into acoustic playtime. With 5 guitars, we need one of those!

Hey Mark,

If they put Ottery's suggestion on television, they might call it Come Dancing.

I like that idea Ottery. It may just prove to be better and safer than cloning.

Last time I tried that, the banjo player threatened to "break my fecking legs".
At least he didn't threaten physical violence to my box.

Now what reading would they get on the Plonkerometer, I wonder?

Re: For those sessions when the ......
Someone on another list asked if he should take up the lap dulcimer or the mandolin. I sent him this video to help him make up his mind.
Good thing I wasn't drinking coffee when I watched it.
