Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco

Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco

Hey all, it looks like I'll be in San Francisco this weekend, arriving Thurs, leaving Monday morning.

I'm not sure how much free time I'll have, but is there anything good (Irish music-wise) that I should know about?

I don't know about Irish music-wise, but there is a good Balkan music and dance festival, on Friday night and Saturday:

Um, they'll be playing a lot of pravos, which to my ear sound a lot like slides. :)

If you want to go to the Starry Plough in Berkeley with me on next Sunday night, give a cyberholler.

Hi Georgi, there's a good session at the Plough & Stars in SF on Sunday night. (The session is listed in the database on this site.) That's where I'll be anyway. It's in the Richmond district at Clement & 2nd Ave. What part of the city will you be staying in?

Are the Starry Plough and the Plough & Stars two different pubs in San Fran or is Starry Plough like a nic name?

Re: Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco

Starry Plough is in Berkeley. Plough & Stars are in SF.

I don't believe they're connected.

They were connected back in the 70s but eventually became two completely separate entities.

Re: Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco

That's not confusing at all. Somebody needs to open a bar called the "Ploughy Stars" in Oakland to round things out. :)

I'm staying with my sister in Berkeley, and it looks like Sunday is generally the best day for tunes. What time do things get going at the P&S? It looks (from the website) that the SP starts around 8...

Re: Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco

It says at the top of the page, "All shows start at 9:00 pm unless otherwise indicated." See you then.
