I've recently moved down to Cork City and have been wandering around aimlessly looking for a good session that I can join in on. I play the fiddle. I'd be confident enough with my playing that I could join in on most sessions. Any suggestions? Cheers!
Try the Gables on Douglas St. on a sunday or wednesday night (John Neville formerly of North Cregg), the spailpín fánach (South Main St.) on a monday night (UCC trad soc session) and the corner house (Colberg st) has sessions some nights too. The Lobby, the Phoenix and An Bróg probably still have trad sessions too but I wouldn't be certain of what nights. Spoiled for choice!
Good suggestions from Jonathan, but The Lobby Bar closed down in March and nowadays only runs gigs in other venues. An Spailpín Fánach and Gables should be checked on other nights.
An Spailpin fanach most nights, Mutton lane on a monday night, Sin e and corner house on Tuesday, The Gables and corner house on Wednesday, Sin e ay 6.30 pm on Fridays and the corner house at 6.30 on the first friday of each month. Charlies on sunday afternoons.
