I don't know about that but I am off to play my favourite annual gig tonight which is courtesy of Guinness - "The Guinness Craic Ball". We get paid to have a little session (mind you it is on a small stage with mics) while the guests arrive and start eating. Then we get amply fed and watered.
I worked in BAR IN 1998 that had sessions 7 nights a week and Guinness used to provide one kegg aweek free of charge for the musicians. Our bar manager would not let us tell the musicians though.
On keg a week wouldn't go very far with the musicians I know.
This has already been tried in Glasgow, with a brewery hosting various top names in solo "sessions". It caused quite a bit of ill-feeling (many threads on Footstomping forum)

Guiness
Can anyone verify the rumor that the folks at St. James Gate subsidize pubs (in Ireland at least) that will sponsor live music?

Re: Guiness
Our landlord subsidises our players with free Guinness!
...And anything else the players want (no good to me, I'm not drinking these days.)
