The good thing about sessions is that you never know what is going to happen. The bad thing about sessions is that you never know what is going to happen.
Well, like my old Grand Daddy used to say if a smart old fox wants to get rid of the fleas in his scruff he gets a stick in his mouth and slowly walks into the water up to his head and by that time the fleas are all up on the stick.... then he just lets go.
Sometimes, I fly through the streets at night in my batmobile that I keep under my be-I MEAN what batmobile?!?! I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT keep a batmobile under my bed.
I would expect a good batlady to know about Anne B.'s happy little ditty. whhhoooooooooo it's halloweeney time! (when warlocks have trouble conceiving, ya know)
Music Hall, actually, Batlady.
"With her head tucked underneath her arm
She walks the Bloody Tower
With her head tucked underneath her arm
At the midnight hour"
How 'bout transcendental?
Words from Louisa Alcott's father Bronson Alcott:
"Your first duty is self-culture, self-exultation: you may not violate this high trust. Your self is sacred, profane it not. Forge no chains wherewith to shackle your own members."
Sometimes I think the Tunes database is like a huge ocean of Guinness.
The froth is the first couple of pages, where fishes (you and I) nibble at the new tunes as they go down. Then down in the black abyssal depths lurk untold quantities of monsters - famous tunes that went in aeons ago. Every so often a fisherman catches one of these, forces a few more settings and anecdotes down its throat, and chucks it back in to become yet vaster and more chimeric and provide that much more sport another day. Maybe the great players are down there too - Aaaargh, a tentacle!! It's Michael Coleman's / Matt Molloy's little finger! AAAAARRGH...!!!
Sometimes in the cosy back room of a pub, when friends and strangers put aside their differences and unite to play a familiar tune, it feels like you have reached up and touched heaven. That is the spirit of the session.
Sometimes when you've just got comfortable in the back room of a pub, some idiot starts up that Planxty polka set and suddenly everyone joins in, and it feels like you have been taken down into the depths of hell.
Sometimes I worry that I've never heard Planxty play a set of polkas so there's no chance of me being the idiot that starts them up in the back room of NB's pub!
Sometimes
Sometimes
Sometimes when people get together and play music, it can be fun. I like those times.
