I have recently bought a andreas rogge practise set and ha ve only been playin for 2 weeks but my teacher advised me that it might be a good idea to put down an order for a half set. Anyone know any relaiable makers witha short waiting list?or is it easy to find a second hand set?
Check the pipes for sale listings at uilleannobsession.com or Na Piobairi Uilleann. Stuff comes and goes all the time, some of it good, much of it not so good, so caveat emptor.
Why not stick with Andreas? Surely it can't take him that long to knock out a mainstock and drones.
Well, by the time you need a half set, you might as well send the $$$ to Andreas and have him make up a full set with your chanter, bag and bellows. Or, go see uilleannobsession.com as previously noted.
GOOD PIPE MAKERS DO NOT HAVE SHORT WAIT LISTS. Even Pat Sky, making a practice set has a 3 to 4 month lead time.
The set on e-bay psoted above is listed on Ebay Australia but is supposed to be in Donegal. Seller has i nthe past made six purchases all around the £2 mark and got his feedback from that. Go fiugure
If its any use a friend of mine was selling a set i'm not sure of the maker but if your interested i can find out and also the set up. You can contact me through email on this site.
There are some advantages to learning with a half set rather than a practice set in terms of learning to blow more steadily and comfortably. That said, though, if what you have is good (and a Rogge practice set is just fine), then I would worry about learning to wrestle that first.
Upgrade of pipes

Just for luck. PS I am in no way the seller or related to, or know much about pipes but if you are an ebay gambler you could give it a try.
Or as cthiuilleannpiper suggests try the obsession site.

Greenwiggle, the tinyurl version,

Re: Upgrade of pipes
You see, Andreas practise set is a pure beginners set and cannot be upgraded. The only drawback to what i am told is a loveley set
