Kitty Hayes and others on TG4 last night and tuesday

TG4 showed a documentary last night on the life and music of concertinaplayer Kitty Hayes. Alongside Kitty many appeared : Peter Laban, Brid O Donohue, Dympna O Sullivan, Claire Keville, Eoin O Neill and more.

A lovely and moving portrait of a wonderful musician. You can catch it again tomorrow (tueasday) 8 pm or on TG4 webtv here:

That was a very nice program. Thanks for the link. I love "They'll Be Good Yet" and really enjoyed listening to her story.

I also watched some of the other programs. If I'd had resources like TG4 when I was trying to learn Irish back in the 80's, I might not have given up so easily :-)

i'm not sure i can stand seeing so many of my favorite musicians all in one piece! thanks!

i guess i better not take this opportunity to express my love of tasteful, oops, sorry, lighter ornamentation, lest i be branded as a) putting down players; b) sour grapes; or c) a beginner......can't wait to see this!!! !!!

But I've had the luck to play a session with the lady herself - fabulous character, and wonderful player.

Thanks for the info! I've watched the show and was surprised to see Brid, my whistle teacher

We don't have T4 here, it's a good thing it's broadcasted with high quality on the internet!

Great to see it again tonight. Amazed to see how proficient the musicians are with the Irish language - Eoin O'Neill and Dymphna O'Sullivan are just two examples of people I've never heard speaking Irish but on the programme were totally fluent.

In fairness, most were dying with nerves bout speaking Irish before their interview and Dympna learned her lines by heart ;-)

i just finished watching it. this made my heart turn over---kitty and her story, plus beautiful music from kitty and all co-conspirators. one speaker in the film called it "elegant"---perfect description. she is a lady in the true sense.
