Help With MiniDisc Recordings!

Help With MiniDisc Recordings!

Hello all,

This summer at the Swannanoa Gathering music camp, I lost my Sony Hi-MD MiniDisc recorder. It was an MZ-M100 model. Now I am in a jam because I cannot listen to any of my previously-recorded discs or even extract their data onto my computer. I guess my options are either to 1) wait until MiniDisc players come down low enough in price to justify getting another one (not for recording but just dumping my old files onto the PC) or 2) find a friend willing to let me borrow their MiniDisc player long enough for me to extract my files.

Will I be able to use my old discs with someone else's player and transfer the files onto my PC? I have some really great session recordings and it's just killing me that I can't listen to them. Any advice?

Thanks,

~Sean

Re: Help With MiniDisc Recordings!

As long as you borrow another Hi-MD recorder you should be able to extract them no bother - but the challenge is finding someone else with one.

Re: Help With MiniDisc Recordings!

I have a somewhat similar problem: My MD Recorder (also a Sony) appears to be kaput -- it won't record anything. Fortunately, I _can_ at least play back recordings I've made.
What's especially disappointing is, earlier this year I went out and got myself a really nice microphone to make better-quality recordings.
So, Sean, if and when you hear of any good deals for MDRs, let me know!
