hi,
I know that All airports in the UK had a total restriction on carry-on-instruments,but that restriction was lifted last week.
Generally, fiddles and instruments of like size tend not to be a problem, but havin said that, I tend to not show my instrument(guitar) at the check in..
Check their website for the regulations, but in my experience it depends on the person at the check in.

I just flew from Heathrow to the US on a BA flight, and they told me at check-in to ask the security people about taking my flute on board, because they said it was not up to them, Security had no problem with my taking it as carry-on luggage, as they said musical instruments and any necessary accessory were exempt from the regulations. This meant I was allowed to take flute, whistle, cleaning rod, cork grease etc with no hassle at all.
Aer Lingus are grand for instruments, never a problem with them. Ryanair on the other hand are a different story. Just don't say anything at check in about the instrument and carry it through then!!!!
Bryanair were on the radio yesterday, complaining that the regulation size was larger than would fit in their cabin lockers.
I can't believe this is the same firm that wanted the size restrictions increased (so they can operate even more luggage scams by immediately decreasing it).

Hi, All,
Anyone have the recent skinny on what's allowed - carry-on-instrument-wise on Aer Lingus? Thanks! Lauri

Re: Aer Lingus Baggage
it's probably worth payin the extra few €£'s on a more expensive airline than using Ryanair!!
