4 Voice (treble) Diatonic Box With 5 or 9 couplers
4 Voice (treble) Diatonic Box With 5 or 9 couplers
I'm developing a yearning for a 4 voice box (tuned low, 2 middle and one high) so I can get the full one row sound and still have two rows. I've found that generally these come with 9 couplers but can come with 5. I think that generally the middle coupler is the master that turns all the voices on. As not all possible combinations of reeds are possible and I suspect that some (especially on the 9 coupler models) are duplicates; what do the other 4 (or 8) couplers do?

Using the graphics you get on couplers turned on their side
.|:|. .|:| .|.|. .|'|. |:|. .| | |.| | |. |:| gives 9 with only one that's mildly silly.
