Can anyone recommend me good flutes? I want a rudal model, african blackwood, 6 keys, i want to spend on it some 1000-1500 EUR. I live in Dublin (i've just moved there). Can anyone recommend me some good flute makers from Ireland?
Possibly near Dublin.
If you stretch your upper limit a hair you might try Sam Murray in Galway. Unfortunately his workshop has moved recently and I don't know that the new contact info is in cyerspace yet.
Glen Watson in Galway http://www.watsonflutes.com/ has also gotten good reviews. He studied with Dave Williams who made my wonderful 8-key, and his flutes look lovely. He's fairly new, so his waiting list shouldn't be too terrible, and has good reviews on the Chiff & Fipple flute board.
For a Rudall-style flute made in Ireland, Murray, Watson, or Hernon would fit the bill.
Cotter and Hamilton are bigger-bored instruments, and Doyle probably lies somewhere in the middle.
Sam Murray is a ghost. I know someone who waited over 6 years for a flute. Sam ignored all attempts at communication and the order was eventually canceled (my friend lost the deposit). Apparently this isn't unusual. I'd go with just about anyone else.
There's a music shop in Galway that carries keyless Murrays - unfortunately our friend needs keys. FWIW I know someone who got a keyed flute in about 8 months.
I recently bought a 4 key Sam Murray, having, in previous years, bought an Eamon Cotter and a Martin Doyle flute. The Sam Murray flute is easily my favourite - it has great power and tone. Unfortunately I have to echo some of the comments made about his reliability - the man's a nightmare to communicate with in my experience. You could try him on murrayflutes@gmail.com but, while you can expect a great flute, don't expect good customer service.

Maurice Reviol makes really nice flute and they're not that pricey and in New Zealand dollars too! about 2:1 to the euro. His keywork is just georgeous! and a really nice guy to boot ,great aftercare. www.reviol.co.nz.
I had a Doyle flute which I liked but I found the reviol flute more grown-up! I also have a Terry Mcgee flute which I also love but is different again and he's pretty pricey,.
Good luck!
Eamonn Cotter is making some brilliant flutes recently. There is a great rich tone from them and plenty of volume. A friend of mine got one recently and loves it and he also has cases for them which are a lot better and smarter looking than the old fashioned timber ones
What flute to buy???

All are generally well-regarded.
