A broken Harp(Clarsach)

A broken Harp(Clarsach)

My good friend and fellow band member recentley had an unfortunate accident in her car on the way back from a gig.Much to our sadness her clarsach did not survive and is now beyond repair.I am currently searching to find any funding or "angels" out there(Scotland) who could offer any guidence or words of wisdom.I have one or two leads to follow locally, but if anyone can offer any help or advice..please do..and no, there was no cover by the way of insurance...One of those things that you don't expect to happen to you,..
So anyone with a gut strung harp in need of playing let us know..!...
On this note how many of you have all your instruments insured?I think i am about to make enquiries as i have just added up how much it would cost my partner and I to replace the instruments in our care..Gulp..

Re: A broken Harp(Clarsach)

Doesn't cost much to insure instruments - and a good lesson to us all there!

Re: A broken Harp(Clarsach)

Join the Musicians Union; free Public Liability insurance ( for if someone trips over while dancing to your harp ), + low cost instrument insurance, + reps to sort out contractual tangles, non-payment of fees, etc.
It's not just for orchestral fiddlers.

Re: A broken Harp(Clarsach)

email me through my website (details in my profile) and I can give you details... I managed to get 2 lots of grants towards my new clarsach in scotland, after mine too was damaged in a car accident! It got fixed on insurance but never sounded the same afterwards.
Its a lot of info so if you email me direct I'll explain in better detail.

With regards to music insurance, its a must... I use Allianz Cornhill http://www.allianzcornhillmusicalinsurance.co.uk

for mine, and just about every musican I know in the UK uses them too. I've had to use it a few times and have never had any bother.

Question though, hasn't your friend who's harp got wrecked got insurance?
If she does why does she need the funding? And if not, I gotta say, as a harp player, she's been a bit silly... harp wise with such an expensive instrument its a nesscecity, and its costs hardly anything to do.

cheers
rach
