working tax credit in the UK for buskers and giggers
working tax credit in the UK for buskers and giggers
We are thinking of claiming working tax credit as self employed musicians - our income coming from a mix of busking, gigging and graphic design work. Is anybody else doing this? How easy was it to set up? How to you forecast income and how do you 'do the books' at the year end?

As an ex employee......and I stress EX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of the civil service (not tax credit but the brew...Jobcentre)
my understanding is that you would need to declare as self employed with inland revenu, but I think for accurate tax credt claims they need a couple of years worth of books, otherwise you may find you phone them pretty much weekly to declare changes.... call them upand find out.... thats if they haven't switched the phones off..... did I sya that out loud ! surely that was just a rumour at the time !?!?!?!

I reckon you go see an accountant! Not doing that is likely to cost you either in claims you could have made, but didn't, or claims you did make, and shouldn't!
