Hello all, im on me way up to Letterkenny tomorrow, it'll be my first fleadh. I was just wondering what the standard of playing in the camp would be like. I was thinking of bringing the mando with me, ive only been playing it since christmas but ive been playin banjo for bout 2 years so im no stranger to the GDAE tuning. Would i be put to shame up there if i decided to play a few tunes for the craic?? Any other advice would be appriciated too, thanks.
To put your mind completely at rest. Say there are 100,000 people at the fleadh over the weekend, well you will be a better mandolin player than some 99,000 of them.

The standard on the camp site is usually a lot higher than the competitions, the ideal place to play whatever you want.
Just play and enjoy yourself. To avoid the fleadh I am going to Mayo, probably bringing a guitar, which I am awful at, but good enough for Molloys.

Music is for pleasure, not competing.
