Hey davarm, if Kenny can't name a Pipe Tune, yer in trouble!
Missed you at the weekend Kenny, sadly it was p*ss poor on the session front so it's lucky you weren't able to make the trip really!
The session side of this event needs a complete rethink!
Did meet two lovely ladies from Melbourne though, Chris on Flute & Jennifer on Fiddle who were great fun & certainly helped to make our weekend.
Safe home girls if your reading this & 'Haste ye Back'!
Thank goodness Ron turned up on Sunday - we were about ready for a friendly face by then - & sounding better than ever on his geetar, pity he didn't bring his Fiddle down though, as he's getting pretty smart on that now too!
Archie may look out!
Och well, perhaps all the session musicians were at the Fringe!
Dick, I wouldn't want to be inflicting my scrapy fiddle playing on the general public for any length of time - that one tune I played on your fiddle was more than enough meantime. I don't think anyone will have to "look out" for my playing during my lifetime - however I do enjoy sawing away in the privacy of the house
Saw your face all over a poster at that posh Oyster restaurant on Loch Fyne, on the way home Ron - August 4th with Archie. I suppose you only played Guitar at that gig?
I noticed too that Bruce Molsky gigged up that way last September!
Cool!
Lucky you - were you at his gig Ron?
You jammy beggar Alistair - I'm green! I'm actually sitting here looking at a photo of that gig, taken from behind Bruce & if you were sitting in the front row, I reckon you could almost have reached out & patted him on the back!
Pocopiper - I have no intention of getting embroiled in a debate over the key of this tune but I do notice that in the Tunes Section it is referred to as:
'Duncan Johnstone'
& yet pocopiper calls it:
'Duncan Johnson'
So which is it?
I suspect that, as no fewer than 'Seven' CDs here spell it Johnstone, you probably need to go & check your spelling?
Missed it eh Ron! Never mind, you still have the 'Scottish Guitar Quartet' to look forward to on Saturday November 18th!
Oh & you will no doubt be taking a certain young someone to 'EGG' the Clown Show on Sunday, September 17th. Or do you 'Act the Maggot' enough for her at home?
Oh and Ptarmigan, yes I almost could!! I have some great photos on my phone of that gig. Met him too when I was working at Celtic Connections this year gone. A really nice guy.
Name this Pipe Tune?
Name this Pipe Tune?
I picked this tune up off of the Angus Sessions Podcast. If anybody can tell me the name, I would appreciate it.

Re: Name this Pipe Tune?
I don't care what anyone else labels this tune it is in E minor, end of story!!
Oh and I was at the Bruce Molsky gig, in the front row. It was totally acoustic - no mics at all (not that I am gloating)

Re: Name this Pipe Tune?
It is Duncan Johnstone (like the person!!)
And Kenny - oops. Ok I admit I was wrong - although there is no need to be quite so blunt about it
