Iain Anderson is busy next door looking for a cool title for his new CD, so I thought we might be able to help inspire him over here, by listing the best names for Bands.
'Paddy O'Dors and the Double Glazers' is an old favourite of mine.
What sort of music does he have on it ?
Sometimes these last details are the hardest to fill; there's an early instrumental ep that Carthy and Swarbrick put out, and the notes on the back read something like "Well, I left Dave with a pencil and a piece of paper, to write these notes, and when I came back from walking the dog, all he had written was "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time." ".
There seems to have been a few posts on this thread that have disappeared????
This isn't the first time I've come across this in a thread. My contribution to this thread seems to have vanished into thin air as has the person who contributed "Death row Tull"
These aren't names of celtic bands but, as band names, I like "The Fabulous Superlatives" (a country western band) and "The Swingin' Utters" (a punk band). Unfortunately, like those who named Google, whoever named the Utters screwed up by misspelling the name, Google should have been Googol and Utters should have been Udders (the band was named after someone's pregnant cat). Misspellings like this really take the edge off of the wit.
I always wanted to play in a band called the Very Men.
Actually did play in a band under the names "Died of a Tuesday" (as in what Elvis did), "75% Bicycle", and "Psycho Ceilidh".
The last one gave Ron Kavana the title for a song, and he never thanked us - we used to play in his local pub in Finsbury Park, North London.
