Sorry Editor (?) but the link "write to me" does not work. I am getting a lot out of this discussion, but how can I:
- be notified if someone has responded to a discussion
- bookmark discussions that I ha responded to (search for "jinksy" does not pick up all my responses
- why do I sometimes get a message to my e-mail address, and other times not
Some things we just have to do for ourselves. With the ever growing size of hard disks the possibilities are endless...but it does require a little effort. That said, I've known your frustrations...
Jeremy does the best he can given the size of the task and the limits on any individual's sanity and time...
A solution I've long adopted to tracking down my old responses is to save each response on to the end of a text file on my computer. This is fairly easy to search, and provided you remember to save each response as you do it with the date, discussion reference number and its title, then it's as close as you'll get to infallible.
You can try a Google search for:
jinksy site:www.thesession.org
I get six hits, one of which is your member information. I think the rest are discussions, but I didn't look closely enough at the results to be sure of that.
I think it's possible to configure your membership to get postings as an RSS feed. I haven't looked into that, but I think it means that postings come to you as e-mail messages (digests?) The info might be on your member page or it might be in the FAQ. Take a look.
Also, you can't get individual postings as an RSS feed or email messages, just an overview of site activity.
Jinksy, the "write to me" link takes you to my member profile. If you are logged on, you can send me an email. Click on "send an email". This is true for any writing to any member of the site.
You get a message to your email account if someone writes you an email. What do you mean by "other times not"? Do you think people are sending you emails that aren't getting through? Or are you talking about the weekly email updates. I'm afraid I can't understand what you're trying to say.
Remember, on your member profile you can see links to the last few comments you've posted. Often that's enough to catch up on any responses.
Thanks everyone for your help. Magic! I get it now... In particular that last comment of yours, Jeremy, is exactly the thing I was looking for - never knew it was there.
THANKS!

Re: How does Session discussion work?
Gary, you don't need to do a Google search. Just use the site-wide search on the front page (which uses Google's engine anyway):
http://www.thesession.org/index.php/search
Also, you can't get individual postings as an RSS feed or email messages, just an overview of site activity.
