Solas DVD Finger splint

Just watched the fabulous new Solas DVD. Does anyone know what the finger splint thing that Seamus Egan is wearing when he plays the flute? He only wears it with the flute, not the half dozen other instruments he plays.

I asked him about it after a show; tedonitis. The flute does has a way of torquing the body.

I once tried a finger spliff but it didn't do much for my flute playing.
