It may or may not be the best *folk* festival, although I'd argue that honour goes to Tonder.
However, the bulk of the people here are predominantly into Irish *Traditional* music which is arguably a different entity. Not that there's any harm in liking both but not everyone here might agree.
Hey boys what are you thinking? There are some fantastic musicians invading the south coast of england from all over the globe and that includes pervayours(?) of trad irish. Its a privelage to hear such people playing in the heart of morris land and to be honest - if you dont wont to hear the clanging of cheap and nasty bells its easy to avoid! What a fantastic setting too. I for one cant wait to bed in for another week of solid tunes by the sea.
Hehe Newty. I loooove Sidmouth and I'm sorry to say I think I count as one of the Irish trad musicians invading for the week. I played something like 16 hours a day last year and tis great coz I only ever have to pay bus fare and I get my dinner and alcofrol free First time was last year so I dunno if people move round much but I played a lot in the Bedford and partic later on when the concerts were over and we could migrate to the back dining room, after that the Dove. If you spot me, I'm the girl with the pale wood Irish flute (and possibly little guitar-playing sister). See you round all!!!
Sidmouth

Enjoy the festival, though.
