Last year I went to the Dublin Irish Festival in Ohio and there was a large Music tent with tables set up with different instruments such as bodhrans, pipes, and whistles. I know that Michael Vignoles will be there with his bodhrans and pipes, but I don't know whose whistles will be there.
Does anyone remember which whistles were there last year, or know which whistles will be there this year?
Also, does anyone know if there will be any flutes there that one could try out. I really would like to try out some Irish flutes, especially some delrin ones such as M&E or Seery.
Michael Burke always had a booth set up every time I attended. I haven't been there for a couple of years now, but I'd bet he'll be there again. I don't remember seeing any other whistle makers there, however.
If we Colonials didn't steal our place names from the Native Americans, we generally stole them from the old countries (I write this from the banks of the Thames River, for example).
Does this mean the sessions are off in Cleveland this weekend? Or is this to far of a drive from Cleveland to Columbus.
Maybe I'll just sit and drink some brew on a boat in
LAKE ERIE..... Does this confuse you aswell McMullen?
S.McMullen sez, "theres a dublin in ohio? did they steel it?
Yes, they did, but first they wooded it and then they concreted it. After the steel, they began to golf it, too. The other huge event in Dublin is a big golf tournament.
I think there was once a large Irish population there, but it seems (like other places in the US) to be Irish once a year.
<GG>
It's a nice festival, we enjoy it a lot and usually have some mighty sessions.
