Altan tablature

Altan tablature

Hello everyone!
I am desperately trying to find Altan tablature but can't find anything anywhere. I was hoping to find tabs or at least just the chords to "Snowy Path" "Ciade sin don te sin" "Dulaman" or "Suil Ghorm"
I just absolutely love these songs!! Does anyone know where I could find tabs to any of them? Or are any of you musical geniuses who could listen to them and tell me what the chords are? Well I'd appreciate any help possible :) Thank you,

a lover of Irish music,

~Jessie

Re: Altan tablature

I guess that all depends on what instrument you play. Guitar? Dunno if there's guitar tab out there for it but there may be somewhere.

If you play mando, zouk, or banjo, here's some mando tab for "Snowy Path" that will work. (assuming you tune GDAE).

The best thing you can do for the long run is develop your ear and/or learn to read music as tab for tunes can be hard to come by.

Re: Altan tablature

Yes I play the guitar. I'd love to develop my ear, but the problem is that I don't know enough chords to figure them out myself! haha. Well thank you for your help :)

Re: Altan tablature

Don’t know if you read music. Here’s a stab at the first two measures in tab. I wonder how this will come out. If it’s going to work at all your best bet would be to cut and paste this attempt to a document and change the font to a monospace font (where each character takes up the exact same amount of space) like courier.

“Snowy Path” Tab experiment – first two measures. Guitar in standard tuning (EADGBE)

D G
E---|-------------------|------------0--------|
B---|--------0----------|------0-3-----3-0----|
G---|------2------2-----|--0---------------2--|
D---|--4--------4----4--|---------------------|
A---|-------------------|---------------------|
E---|-------------------|---------------------|

You'll find tab for guitar for this and other tunes here.

Re: Altan tablature

You might try tracking down tabs for Clannad, because they recorded some of these before Altan.

Re: Altan tablature

Wouldn't hurt to work a little bit on reading the dots too. { typing interrupted by the "only by ear" crowd gathering outside my home with pitchforks and torches}.

Tab tells you the notes. Dots tell you notes and note lengths, opening such treasure troves as Ceol Rince and O'Neills to your waiting fingers.

Before anyone gets in a tizzy, I played strictly by ear for 25 years before learning to read music, and wondered why I put it off for so long when I finally started doing it.

Re: Altan tablature - dots & ears

What incredible bravery!!
KC, before that were you one of the people with pitchforks and torches - just wondering.
