Banjo lessons needed in Glasgow

Banjo lessons needed in Glasgow

I purchased a tenor banjo about 6 months ago and i have been working my way through a number of tutorial books, DVDs and obtaining info from the net, but still sound like a bag of spanners!!

Does anyone know where I can get lessons in the Glasgow area?

Re: Banjo lessons needed in Glasgow

Banjo lessons needed everywhere, I think.

You haven't said whether or not you've played mandolin as well. If not, a good mandolin teacher would probably help too. They have courses at Glasgow Fiddle Work shop in mandolin etc which will be mainly Scottish but its a start.

In fact, I see from the site that Celine Donoghue takes a banjo class there. She might even do private lessons.

Another possibility might be to contact Jimmy Moon who might offer some suggestions.

I have not played the mandolin but i do have the banjo tuned to GDAE, which i belive is the same tuning to the mandolin??

I will contact the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop and hope that they will be able to help!

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!!

Re: Banjo lessons needed in Glasgow

Actually Glasgow Fiddle Workshop have been doing tenor banjo classes for a wee while now, with Celine Donoghue of Calasaig taking the helm. You could do worse. Classes start at the beginning of September.
