The best, and cheapest place to buy strings?

The best, and cheapest place to buy strings?

Hey there again. Another question...
I need to find some fiddle strings and I want to try something different. Where can I buy strings at a *cough*reasonable*cough* price? I've looked at Shar, Juststrings.com, but are there any other places I should know about? I'd like to not spend $35-$40 on a set if I can help it!

thanks!

I buy mine from concordmusic.com.

IMO very decent prices and excellent and fast service.

you might also try southweststrings.com...their prices are sometimes lower than Shar's.

I always check prices at both Shar and SW Strings & then buy from whoever is cheapest at the moment. It's usually been SW Strings.

HI - it would be useful to say where you live (ie what country!).

Hi - you might then want to try someone who does Warchal strings. We do them in the UK but if you can find a supplier there, they're really nice ones. Not the cheapest but worth a look as we get excellent customer feedback about them (my wife's a convert to them too, as a player).

All sorts here, not Warchals though. They are based in New Hampshire.

Re: The best, and cheapest place to buy strings?

I did a Froogle search for "Helicore violin strings set" (my personal favorites), and came up with:

http://gostrings.stores.yahoo.net/dadhel4.html

As well as a bunch of Ebay listings (!), which I didn't expect.

I usually just go through either SW or JustStrings, since I've never had a bad experience with either, and the price for a set is only about $3 more. There are plenty of dodgy businesses on the internet these days , so I like to stick by the tried-and-true ones...

There's been plenty of discussion on this in the past. The "Search" feature will give you lots of information and opinion.
