At the risk of looking like a complete and utter retard, I must confess that until I started frequenting this website a few months ago, I had never seen ABC notation before. I have no trouble with reading dots, having had 11 years of classical training before switching to ITM a couple of years ago, but now I feel the need to learn ABC notation. Can anyone point me in the direction of any online resources about deciphering ABC?
Click on Links, then on Search. You will then see a list of links, the first item of which is to ABC links (14 or so). Click on that and go from there.
Your best bet is the command-line utility abc2ps ( http://www.ihp-ffo.de/~msm/ ) combined with platform-appropriate software for viewing and printing Postscript files (on Windows, I use Ghostscript and the Ghostview extension). This lets you print out ABC files as very high-rez sheet music - far better than the GIFs provided by this site for preview purposes.
I checked out most of the other software available from the links page, but most of it either sucked or costed money. =/

Re: ABC help...
Co-mando gave this great link www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html
This will take ABC and convert it to MIDI and PDF instantly online.
