hi, i'm hoping someone here can help me out with this...so i'm absolutely in love with this James Galway and the Cheiftains "In Ireland" album and the one song "alleluia" completely mystifies me, i dont recognize it as a traditional tune, as many of the other songs on that album are. i've been hoping to find the music/some sort of notation for it but can't find it or a likeness of it anywhere. i'm wondering if anyone recognizes it and/or knows of a different title for it or could even just point me in the right direction to finding some music for it. much appreciated!
It's a version of this tune, which appears in one of the Bunting collections: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4303 . They play it in G. This tune is a recent favorite of mine, and I had no idea it was on this recording until I pulled out my hideous green vinyl LP to check. I don't know where the name "Alleluia" comes from, but I just updated the tune listing for the alternate name.
mystery tune...
