How could you possibly be griping about going to the Catskills? There's no bigger fan of Willie Week than myself, but I daresay the week in East Durham is a healthy consolation prize.
Give me a break, Peter Horan is going to be there. What more do you want? You'd have to resurrect a few people to line up a better cast of characters.
I was at both last year and they are brilliant in their own ways. Steph's right - Armand you're a lucky ducky! I can't go this year as I now have to head for the Middle East (finally). Typical that when the work projects lurch ahead they clash with the Catskills. :(
I'll be teaching there, if any of you care to learn to cast Celtic designs in silver, and make a pendant, ring or other wearable item. We're going to do it in the manner the ancient Celts would have often used, casting in sand/clay. It's not so hard as it sounds, and is truly fascinating. There are some other visual arts classes too, in case some of you are dragging along spouses or friends who do not play music!
irisnevins - AH... this is durham... gotcha... I will be at Willy...
thanks and I really wish i could learn your silver stuff as I am an art teacher! Smiles, Jess
As luck would have it, I spent a lot of my childhood living not too far from East Durham, but back then there _was_ no "Catskill Week." (Yeah, yeah, and we had no personal computers and we had to ride dinosaurs to get to sessions...) Guess they had to make sure I had permanently moved away before starting it.
i live up here, so i'm going for beginner pipes. by the way, if you're coming from long distances, stay at Blackthorne Resort. the web site is www.blackthorneresort.com. (518) 634-2541
