The first tune in Sé.
Mike Hobin's.
I'm a beginner in this so my question is: what kind of tune is it?
Once you tell me I'll submit the tune.

A slip-jig in 3/4? never heard about that before.
How should I submit that? is there any option to submit a slip-jg in 3/4?
I've read that a hop-jig is almost the same as a slip-jip, so how can this tune be a hop-jig?
I don't see why 9/8, if I have to turn it a jig I don't see it as a slip-jig.
I'm still too raw for this... can you show us your setting so the inexperienced people here can understand it? thanks.
It looks to me to be a straightened out hop jig, which is a three-two, or if it's fast, a slip polka. I don't have the album to listen to the tune, but it depends on which of the following you feel to be correct, rhythm-wise:
X: 1
T: Mike Hobin's
M: 3/4
L: 1/8
R: Slip Polka (submit under "three-two" and disregard time sig when transcribing)
K: Ador

Well, there might be a clue that the name of the set is called the Cullybacky Hop. Come on, Dow, you mean they haven't started playing this set at Durty Nelly's yet? ;)
Right you are, I am not playing it as an evolving set... But I did also find a relative knocking about... It's a kick to melt from 6/8 into 3/4 and then into 9/8... YEE HA!!!

Probably a Slip Jig in 3/4, aka a Hop Jig.

Re: Help needed for a Lúnasa tune
Hmmm, to me, after just a quick listen, it seems like it's in 6/8.

Re: Help needed for a Lúnasa tune
Ok, thinking about this a little more, 6/8 would put it into eight-bar phrases, right? But, it kind of has a 12/8 feel too.
123123121212 (accents on the ones or to put it another way accent on the 1st, 4th, 7th, 9th, & 11th eight not)

Oops I added an extra barline at the start of the last line for each.

Re: Help needed for a Lúnasa tune
Sorry disregard what I said about submitting a slip polka under 3/2. You could just stick it with the mazurkas in 3/4. Have a look at these:

Re: Help needed for a Lúnasa tune
Well... thanks for your opinions.... but I still don't know what to do...
Maybe the slip-polka option sounds the best to me... but I don't know...
Anyway now you can listen to Lúnasa play it so you won't have so many doubts, thanks Stewart for the link.

Re: Help needed for a Lúnasa tune
Is n't this one of those funny Eastern tune types with alternating bars of 6/8 and 3/4.Who cares what it's called if you can play it.
