Hi there
I'm a concertina learner playing a Lachenal w/e b/b CG (and also play a bit of DADGAD) learning Irish trad music. I live in a very small town called Corryong in Victoria, Australia. Luckily there is a huge Irish music scene in Australia so there's lots of opportunities to go to sessions and small country festivals if one doesn't mind the travel. If any of you are travelling in Australia, be sure to look us up as we have a spare room and are always keen to play a bit of music with visitors. We also have a small festival here over New Years called the Nariel Creek Folk Festival which celebrates a unique local style of traditional Australian Bush music (mostly based on Irish, Scottish and German origins). Common instruments played include concertina, button accordian, melodian, bodhran, sticks, bones, spoons, guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, whistle etc etc. The festival includes lots of dances and campfire sessions and is in a very beautiful setting on a creek in the Snowy mountains.
I am getting into a lot of new CD's from groups like Providence, Cian, and too many others. I have found that a lot of the tunes I like are not easily available on the web so hope to be posting a few new tunes in the future. Try "Farewell to London" off Providence-Fig for a kiss. Great set. See ya.....
