abc question

abc question

I use abcnavigator for learning new tunes but I'm not too savvy with hand-coding the stuff. Does anyone know if there is a quick and easy way of changing the playback of a tune so that it plays with a swing or dotted feel?

Re: abc question

Cammy,
My using a Mac keeps me from abcnavigator but the navigator site does list a rhythm filter as a feature. Have you investgated that? Anyway, this being the new millenium and all, there should be a quick and easy way to do what you want.

You can try changing the R field from "reel" to "hornpipe." This works when the files are dropped on the concertina.net tuneotron. Otherwise, the > symbol can be added after the notes you want to dot.

There's a useful ABC thread here that shows some fantastic examples of ABC tinkering that Dow made one day.

Re: abc question

Well thank ye kindly,

As to the navigtor's functions, I'm afraid I'm too lazy and am waiting for a help file, or built in functions to let me know what to do. Not that I'm complaining though - this is one of the best free downloads for us tune learners on the net.

Re: abc question

Me too - can't be bothered to navigate without a map!! It looks nice but with no quickhelp, I havn't got time.
ABC2win on the other hand, is self explainatory but still has help.
