Doesn't Olympus make stereo mics that work with these recorders? Anyway, any low-inpedence stereo mic with the right kind of plug (or adapter) should work. The more you spend, the better the mic, but beyond $100, you're probably exceeding the capability of the recorder. The cheapest stereo mic you can find will probably sound better than the built-in mic.
I've got a DM-20 with a remote control mic. The remote works well, but I suspect the stereo mic made by Olympus will be better.
Frankly, I am well pleased with just the internal mic.
I hang the recorder on an old music stand in the center of the group. It picks up every one at our sessions, and I haven't had to use the noise limiting feature at all.

External microphone recommendations
I just acquired an Olympus DS-20. Any recommendations on external mics?
thanks.
