PADDY CANNY & P.J. HAYES: ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS - VIOLIN

PADDY CANNY & P.J. HAYES: ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS - VIOLIN

There are 2 versions of the same recordings of this music out...the one listed in the title, "PADDY CANNY & P.J. HAYES: ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS - VIOLIN", and another called "An Historic Recording Of Irish Traditional Music
Paddy Canny, P.J. Hayes, Peader O'Loughlin, Bridie Lafferty"...why are there 2, which one was issued first, and which one is true to the original issue? One of the issues has the tunes grouped together, like all reels, all jigs, etc, while the other is more "listener" friendly in that the tunes are scattered amongst each other.

Nothing to get upset about. It's just the greedy record companys trying to survive in a competing world. They are all exactly the same tunes in a different order and a different title to confuse you into buying both. They are of course different company names but I'm not sure about who owns them. I suspect they are the same as copyright issues would arise if they were different.

Just be glad that we do actually have recordings of these guys, and that they are available.

Re: PADDY CANNY & P.J. HAYES: ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS - VIOLIN

For some reason Shanachie messed around with the original album's playing order which, as memory serves, was all reels on one side and jigs and other tunes on the reverse. There are also questions about whether the label had the right to issue the album in the first place. The Dublin label CD (and this label released the album in the first place) has the tracks in the right order.
