So it's been just over a year since I attended my first session. I understand now why people here were scratching their heads over my question, "How many tunes do you know?" and better appreciate how difficult it can be sometimes to remember the names of tunes even though your fingers know how to play them.
Anyway, if you're interested in my thoughts re: sessions after a year, feel free to visit:
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
HOLY TOLEDO. Nix that...I just started listening to some of the MP3s posted, and I am INCREDIBLY INTIMIDATED! But wow, some great listening here; I'm looking forward to going through and listening to every sample.
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
Don't be intimidated, please! If I can get up the brass to submit a track, so can you...course, I hid behind Will's fiddle most of the time. The Mighty Craic was drafted as a way for us to share some of our music with each other, no more, no less.
And you can always ask Jim to replace your track as you get better. ;)
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
Your track sounded great, and I'm a huge Jane Yolen fan so was especially appreciative.
And a good point about asking Jim to replace the track as I get better.
I'm REALLY enjoying listening to all the tracks and have already made a Paypal donation using the button at the top of the page. Jim Dorans and "Pobans" are pretty generous in making this site publicly accessible!
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
I hope you enjoy my track, (I was playing pool on it) It's typical of the great music we play all the time at the Plough and Stars. Ask Zina, she's been there. She loves single jigs too.
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
Which track is yours, Phantom? I couldn't find your nickname on the list.
And apologies for the typo in my previous post, the thanks should have gone to Jim Dorans and "pobe", not "Pobans". I have no idea where the latter came from.
Re: One year since my first session...and a thank you
Phantom's old nickname used to be Jack Gilder.
By the way, Jack, it's a great tune. Especially the finale. I listen to it at work for hours on end and my office mates are getting the hang of it - at least they've pretty fast learnt to emulate the last exclamation of lyrics there.

I'm immensely grateful for the advice and encouragement you've shown me as a complete beginner.
Thank you!

That's Will's fault.
Blame it all on him.
The Mighty Craic is Jim Doran's baby -- you can find it at http://worldfiddlemusic.co.uk/mightycraiconline/

Thanks for the info re: Mighty Craic. What a wonderful idea for a site! And it's great to connect faces with some of the user ids of TheSession.org.
I definitely want to contribute something. Just have to work up the nerve to record myself playing whistle...

Thanks, Jane! I've found Jack's tune but unfortunately the MP3 server seems to be down right now; I'll try again later.
