Bothy band recording help please.

Bothy band recording help please.

Hello,

One of my pals gave me a cassette of a Bothy Band record. The tape begins with a recording of "Kesh Jig"

I would like to know if anyone who also owns a copy of this recording can provide me with a list of the tune names therein.

There are several I have heard at sessions here and there but I don't know the names of the tunes.

can you help a fellow?

'Afterhours'. The fellow can help himself by going to Recordings and then Search. There's all the info you need there. :)

Re: Bothy band recording help please.

bt,

My guess is that you have a tape of "The Bothy Band 1975: The First Album". I've included the track list below. You can always go to www.freedb.org to find the track listings of an unbelievable number of recordings. It's not without mistakes, but it's a great resource.

1. 4:33 The Kesh Jig/Give Us a Drink of Water/The Flower of the Flock/Famous Ballymote

2. 3:03 The Green Groves of Erin/The Flowers of Red Hill

3. 2:54 Do You Love an Apple?

4. 2:32 Julia Delaney

5. 3:00 Patsy Geary's/Coleman's Cross

6. 4:17 Is Trua Nach Bhfuil Mé in Éirinn

7. 3:45 The Navvy on the Line/The Rainy Day

8. 2:58 The Tar Road to Sligo/Paddy Clancy's

9. 2:33 Martin Wynne's/The Longford Tinker

10. 4:10 Pretty Peg/Craig's Pipes

11. 5:25 Hector the Hero/The Laird of Drumblaire

12. 2:15 The Traveller/The Humours of Lissadell

13. 2:45 The Butterfly

Re: Bothy band recording help please.

Afterhours was recorded live in Paris. At the beginning of the last track you can hear 'The Groves' being announced. I didn't realize that The First also started with The Kesh. All the best bt.

Re: Bothy band recording help please.

There's a really good LIVE version of the track - absolutely crackling - on Donal Lunny's "Best of..." album. Get it for 79p at http://www.tradtunes.com/

Re: Bothy band recording help please.

What about the BBC sessions, doesn't that start with the Kesh too? Perhaps not, I can't remember offhand but it's great stuff.
And Owell Mabee, I think that audiobook mught have been Frankie Gavin's biography.....
