Kate Thompson's New Policeman - list of tunes?

Kate Thompson's New Policeman - list of tunes?

Like jfother and a few other contributors last week, I have recently discovered this wonderful book. The young daughter of a friend in England is currently reading it. The same girl is also a beginner on the violin but lives in deepest Dorset far from any session. Her mum would like to see her try a bit of ITM and the daughter seems enthusiastic about giving it a go. I would like to make her a tape of as many of the tunes in the book as I can find as she is unfamiliar with them. Unfortunately I don't own a copy of the book myself. Can anyone post a list of the tunes contained in the book so I can start assembling a tape for her?

Re: Kate Thompson's New Policeman - list of tunes?

the legacy
the new policeman
the new-mown meadow
lucy campell
the cup of tea
the reconciliation real
the drunken landlady
rolling in the barrel
the concertina reel
the wise maid
the stony steps
garrett barry's jig
the teetotaller
the priest and his boots
the fair-haired boy
tomorrow morning
last nights fun
the lad that can do it
farewell to ireland
the bird in the bush
the big bow-wow
the eavesdropper
drowsy maggie
the one that was lost
the setting sun
the gold ring
it'll come to me ( Kate Thomson)
the fairy hornpipe
the yellow wattle
the gravel walks
free and easy
pigeon on the gate
the white donkey
the cuckoo's nest
the wild irishman
out on the ocean
contentment is wealth
the puka
sergeant early's jig
the green mountain
the mountain top
king of the fairies
the angry peeler
the priest with the collar
after the sun goes down
the rainy day
devaney's goat
the new century
my mind will never be easy
far from home
the maple tree
welcome home
grandfather's pet
dowd's number nine

Hope that helps, good luck with the tape.

Julie

Thanks Zina, that's assuming I ever actually get around to doing it! This time of year is notorious for unfulfilled good intentions.

Heh. I know what you mean. Well, you could always try what I do when I'm working with little kids -- imagine the look of hurt and betrayal on their little faces if you've not done it. ;) Works for me everytime.

Er, I'd like a copy of the tape, too, please.

;-) Just kidding! I did order the book though. Looks wonderful, as they say, for kids of all ages.

Hehe. It really is a great book. I've read it a couple of times now, and I'm always learning new tunes from it.
