Re: What did Santy Bring?

I got a copy of Peter Lennon's film "Rocky Road to Dublin" about Dublin life in the 1960's and how Ireland never lived up to the aspirations of the revolution 1916-22. I would strongly recommend it ye's all. Great stuff. Also included is footage from a session in O'Donoghue's and the fiddle player looks to me like a very youthful Tommy Peoples.

Re: What did Santy Bring?

A cracking 2GB iPod nano - just loading up my favourite tunes now - what a bloody marvellous piece of design. Also got a lovely leather jacket - the nano is a matching black lol.

He also brought the wee whistler a set of Syn whistles just like Jennie :-D

The house is coming down with barbies, mobile phones, soft animals, car speakers for the oldest lad, clothes......................

All in all a really nice christmas day and makes you grateful for what you have.

Now for a nice relaxing evening at home with the family - a couple of bottles of red then snooze time to get ready for the fray tomorrow afternoon - Traditional St Stephen's Day session in Speedy Mullan's Downpatrick. Kick Off 3.00 yeeeeeehawwwwwwwww!!

Re: What did Santy Bring?

Some sort of censoring device seems to substitute the letter 'a' which should follow that 'w' with the letter 'i'.

What Santy Brought

Come West Along the Road, a great DVD produced by Nicholas Carolan from his RTE programmes which includes 47 archival items with the Both Band, Stockton's Wing, Joe Cooley, De Dannan, Planxty and many more. In fact Tommy Peoples is on there playing the Laird of Drumblair and apart from being youthful as on Danny's video, he's also sporting a beard!

Re: What did Santy Bring?

Finally, I've got me tenor Banjo. Been playing on it for hours each day and it feels like I've had it a few weeks, rather than 2 days!!
I also got Come West Aong the Road. Have to agree with Bannerman. Great DVD. Its a pity that not much of this stuff is on the tele anymore. But I suppose most of the charecters (Joe Cooley etc) arn't with us.
Also got Luke Kelly The Performer but havn't watched it and got Christy Moore's new album, Burning Times. I have to admit that he's gotten way to repitive and should stick to his old stuff. Tut tut.
