Anyone going to Dave Williams w/e and should I go to the session?
Anyone going to Dave Williams w/e and should I go to the session?
I've got a whole day ticket for the Sunday, can't wait. However, I've got some potential commitments on the Saturday night. So firstly, anyone going, if so I look foward to meeting you. Secondly should I make the effort to go to the session, if so will I be expected to play - the thought is a bit daunting as I don't know so many tunes having only been on the conversion path from boehm flute to wooden stick for about a year... what luck to have these kinds of decisions to make!

Hi Neil. Pleased to meet you.
I'm going too.
I'll be there all day Saturday and most of Sunday (might have to cry off for a gig in the afternoon).
Definitely worth going to the session(s) on Sunday. Bring your flute. There is no obligation to play if you don't know the tunes. If someone asks you to start one yourself you don't have to, nor do you need to feel you have to make up a set - someone will always be willing to take up the baton.

Hi Conán
Pleased to meet you too. So is there anything going on on Saturday other than the 8pm/9pm sessions listed on the website? Given the people involved, I think I'd be a fool not to go! I'm planning on attending flute and whistle workshops on the Sunday and the concert in the evening.

There will be tunes in the day on Saturday in the Herschel I expect. People will be turning up from about 2 or 3 o'clock so I reckon they won't be able to resist playing for a too long.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Thanks for the invite Max - probably about an hour each way so maybe I can make that. If you have a need for lap bound flutes that is. Looking foward to Catford being sunny on a bleak night
Re: Anyone going to Dave Williams w/e and should I go to the session?
Uh oh Neil... the bloke you described with the Copley is me too.
Tell you what, I'll make myself easier to recognise by pinning to my lapel a chrysanthema, er, Christhemanimum, buggrit, Chrysamthenimma, oh hell I mean a poppy.
I hear McGoldrick's got upwards of 23 fluters signed up to his workshop on Sunday. That's a lot of wind!
Re: Anyone going to Dave Williams w/e and should I go to the session?
I've just heard a rumour that Dow will be at the Dave Williams weekend .....
This could be a real 'The Session Session' if we all manage to be in the same place at the same time. Dow, Siobhan, Jerry, Geoff P. Conan, Q, Sam, and Neil C ....
eeek!

Should we all be wearing badges with our Session IDs, or perhaps we should have a secret signal?

I'm easy to recognise fom the damp pawprints and faint odour of fishbones.

I'm easy to recognise as the dashingly handsome, yet completely inaudible, chap.

I'll be the slightly scared looking bloke with the unkeyed Copley blackwood flute that I'll probably just hold in my lap.

Hi Neil
I see you're in Guildford. Not too unfeasible, then, to motor to sunny Catford one bleak November night and join us at the Blythe?
