ipod video

Just wanted you all to know that I have heard that the Ipod Video has improved it's audio quality and sampling rates from previous Ipods' rate of 8 kpbs to 22kpbs mon and 44 kpbs stereo SO - the new video ipod woul dbe great for field recording. However, the interface input arrangement is different from older ipods so if you have italk or other attachments for older ipods, they won't work on on the new one. Good news is the new ipod -video has great audio recording quality now

Re: ipod video

I've got a couple questions regarding this issue: i've heard rumours that the newest generation of ipods cannot act as recorders, unlike the older ones; is this true? As far as session recording goes, can the newest generation of ipods compete with iriver (which gets plenty of good press on this site)?
I've been in the market for some sort of digital recording device for some time now, and with christmas (and a time in my life when i will be able to devote myself to learning tunes) fast approaching, i think it is time to join the game... however, i've found it astoundingly impossible to get an answer on the mic situation for contemporary ipods online... sorry to clutter up the session mb with another tech question but ironically trad musicians (at least on this site) are more savey about cutting edge mobile recording than anyone else i know...
Thanks for your help!
