In a local tiny country primary school near here, they actually owned a Double Bass & a few years ago brought a teacher in to teach it.
So how did they decide who would get the lessons - yip, they took all the kids into the hall & stood them all in a row - & the tallest kid got the lessons.
So just how tall are you Keyedup?
All I can say to your question is, Session.org is the best site I've come across.
I believe the tunes are all submitten to sessioneer much as they are here - by individual members...who will very likely get info wrong from time to time. I generally don't look for tune info there (or here either for that matter) but more for the info on sessions. That was the original inquiry right?
Another good possibility is to go to Google.com and enter a search string such as, "Celtic music sessions in (name of location).
It's a good idea IMO to email or call first to make sure the session is still happening, happening on the particular day that's listed, and that newcomers/banjo players etc. are welcome.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Now I have to go and suss out the new sites mentioned.
John J - I'd never thought of that before but I suppose you're right about not all sessions being listed (deliberately). Who knows when the "riff-raff", like me might just show up.
Best site for finding sessions?
Best site for finding sessions?
I think thesession.org is really great and so entertaining.
Just wondering if thesession.org is the most comprehensive site for finding sessions around the world (particularly in Canada, USA and Australia).
Some places I've searched on seem like they should have more sessions listed. That's why I'm asking.

I see you like the double bass Keyedup.

Re: Best site for finding sessions?
I agree. Also, you have to bear in mind that not all musicians wish to have their sessions listed--as I found out a few months back!

Surely "Darach de BrĂșn" means "The Brown Trees"?
