Maybe Pingu was joking, but here goes, anyway!
The first Thirteen Tunes on the Sessions are:
1. The Oyster Wife’s Rant
2. The Meelick Team
3. Ross Battery March
4. Portpatrick
5. The Banshee
6. Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine
7. Bundle and Go
8. The Blarney Pilgrim
9. Boil the Breakfast Early
10. Cooley’s
11. The Belfast
12. The Bucks of Oranmore
13. Frances John McGovern
Some observations, in no particular order…
I know that Irish deer have no antlers.
Apparently It’s a kind of Anaemia!
The surname is the same, it’s the best I could do…
Hurley!
There was once (1928) a Punch cartoon with a child saying “I’ve drained my kipper to the dregs, and I’m still hungry…”
No connection with the Titanic, but even the people who live there don’t know it’s “famous” for this…
These really are called “bundles”.
Some people will bend over backwards for you.
She says as much (“If he’d only married the oyster…”)
“No, THAT side!”
Not that far from Stranraer.
Merchandising…
A kind of washerwoman, to hear it told.
Now match the titles to the pictures!
(I’ll be delighted if everybody understands these.)
Well, over time I've grown to quite enjoy your contrairy outpourings, Michael, and whether I speak for the majority of members here is irrelevant -- cos you just don't care!
(but you do really, because you've got yourself into this little niche as the thesession.org cynic/ogre/completec^nt.--so work away and do your thaing)
And don't you forget *it*!
Well, I thought it could have been a nice thread, InnocentB, shame it went pear shaped. BTW, as I said, I enjoy Michael's contributions, tho I usually don't often *agree* with him! - they always cut through the bullsh!t. Tosspot detractors on here don't worry me in the slightest, but I am definitely no fan of big-time self promoters either. So go and take a begF++k to yourself.
Oh please. Are you seriously trying to tell me if you had recorded an album you wouldn’t mention it here ?
(You have no problem giving links to your homepage, workpage and your mightycraiconline contribution, - incidently where eople can listen to both yours and Chris Smiths contributions with the knowledge that you called his “puke”)
Given that Chris Smith has been a contributor here for a lot longer than you or I, and has always been willing to offer advice to others (as opposed to trying to convince people of his worth with “wannabe working class hero classist guff”) I think you could hardly call him mentioning his album with Roger Landes and Randal Bays big time self promotion.
When I was under the assumption you were a teenager it was easier to understand your regular hand biting episodes but your bitter bile spat out recently with your “puke” comment does indeed show your true colours.
If done in a moment of drunkenness in could be easily forgiven, but you’re not even man enough to apologise.
By the way, calling other people Tosspots doesn’t make you not one.
Aye, well, maybe you're right. But something about that thread stuck in my craw. The music IS good though. But as I alluded to above, if you hold that opinion of me then there's not much I can do about it, so there's no point in me worrying too much about it.
What I think of you is not the point.
It’s the hypocrisy that annoys me - why did it stick in your craw.
when you’re quite able to promote yourself ie “Our rates for ceilis, gigs and concerts are competitive.”
I think what stick in the craw is bitterness and jealousy.
But fair play to you for admitting the music is good. Maybe you’ve more guts than I gave you credit for.
I can assure you there is no jealousy. But feel free to believe whatever you want. What amazes me is how much this has become a bee in YOUR bonnet. But that's life.
I can assure you it's not just BegF. Everyone will have read it and gone: "oh my god I so can't believe he just said that - what a twit", but most people either can't be bothered to make a fuss, or just don't say anything because they know they'll get the above reaction. Hey, I reckon just apologise, and then everyone will go , "oh well, cool" and not give it any more thought. You have to get down on your knees and mean it though
OK guys - sorry. That's the best I can do right now.
But wait a minute Dow --- you're not exactly a quiet as a mouse type. I've seen you get into a fair few scraps on here that I've felt embarrassed for on your behalf.
....not wishing to start nother fight, he says, slowly backing off....
“But feel free to believe whatever you want”
Thanks for the go ahead, I will.
In the meantime I’ll “make that connection to your own Celtic ancestry” on your site where I believe you offer great rates for ceilis http://hometown.aol.co.uk/cruiseroisin/myhomepage/makingmusic.html
