Hi guys,
In an effort to start an Irish session in my city I've invited a number of people to a Sunday evening jam. It worked out for me because I tended to get a bit nervious at my new job and rather than fret Sunday evening I jammed. Well, for the most part the four or five people I've been jamming with have been the same ones for about a year. I do attend a real hot Irish session Wednesdays in a small town nearby but haven't found the "magic" they've got to really get things going. I'm thinking the "magic" might in part be to the night they play. Most bars have acts or something special planned most Fridays and Saturdays. What night do you tend get together? What is special about your favorite session?
I always thought the pub wanted a date that was a slow night for them so the business would pick up. Anyway, the session I play at (Green Briar Pub in Brighton, MASS) is on Mondays, and lots of people show up at the slow session and stay for the regular session.
Here, without driving too far you can find a session on nearly every night of the week.

mmmm... jam.... scones... tea... Could do with a freely associated cuppa right now!
thursdays are quite popular session nights.
I like tea on Thursdays too. And scones, with strawberry jam. And whipped cream.

I'm only at home on Wednesday, practice with band Mondays, and all other nights at various sessions.
Now if I could only find a Wednsday session....

Sunday afternoons are better than Sunday evenings. But it helps if you've got the option to carry on into the night.
Saturday afternoons are good too.
Thursdays are about the only day in Aberdeen when you *can't* find a session. Late-night shopping.

Things have certainly changed in the Granite City since the mid seventies, & the golden age of the Ma Cameron sessions!
But then I suppose that was thirty years ago!
