I'd love to hear McGlinchey play this tune himself. I say this because I learned it years ago from Kevin Burke's old Folkways LP, and the way KB plays it, the tune has a much more interesting gapped scale. There are basically no Bs in it all, either flat or natural, except for, at the high point, a mere gracenote in passing. This gives the tune a "thirdless", neutral feel and, with the virtual absence of Es, you have a very funky pentatonic.
The way I hear people playing it nowadays, there are several strong B-flats, and the above transcription has one or two, which seem out of place. Mind the gap, I say.
