It's been a couple of weeks since I've picked up my flute. Last night, I dreamt that someone gave me a flute in a case for my birthday. The lower half was like an orchestral flute of silver. The upper half was open-holed and of rosewood. Sounded okay.
I once had a dream where I was trying to get to my dad at his workplace [located in the middle of a junk yard of all places] with the help of a parrot that could dig underground.
ANYWAY, back in saddle? As in start playing? If so, HELL yeah! Couple of weeks of not playing? If you don't start playing soon, then maybe you'll start dreaming of uhhh.... Errr... a COMPLETE orchestral flute O_O;
I once dreamt I was standing on a platform in thin air with only a large bull for company. Maybe my subconscious was telling me that I should not disregard my Spanish roots
And Ailin, to paraphrase Freud, sometimes a flute is really just a flute.
Over the years I've had various dreams about finding fabulous and interesting flutes in junk shops, weird musical instrument stores etc, but there's always something wrong with them. The finger holes are too far apart, enormous cracks run the length of the flute, the flute is 5 ft. long and has a really cool but incomprehensible key system, not sure which of the multiple tubes you're supposed to blow into, etc. I think *once* I managed to play a tune.

A while ago I did a flute swap with a local silver player. He wanted to try my quena and also wanted to hear me play an orchestral flute.
Turns out it's been so long since I've played one of those things that I don't remember the fingerings at all.
I'm trying to decide whether I should pick one up to regain lost skills. . .or celebrate.
