Hi all,
Just found this site and it is amazing. Love all the stuff from willie week. I was playing in the Central Hotel a few nights and the caliber of musician there was amazing more often than not. Had great tunes with the Kelly brothers and Vincent Griffen and Peter MacKey one of the nights until it became too noisy. Had some lovely quiet tumes another night with Benny McHugh. What fun!!!
Was in there one afternoon and there was a great ses going, full of kids!!!
wonderfull to see all the young ones playing together with a few adults leading it along. Great!!!
Heard a singer there selling her CD and I bought a copy, all original work. it is amazing, the songs are so heartfelt. Her name was Claire Watts and she has a site of her own. Worth checking out I think. http://www.clairemwatts.com
Role on next Willie Week.

Great Gerry
I didnt make it this year but the kids were there last year and i think it is brilliant for the future of the tradition. It does so much for thier self esteem to be associating with adult musicians who take the time to listen to what they are able to play and join in with then also.
So many "Adult" players are so far removed from where they learned thier music that they frown upon young kids joining in. If we don't allow them to play with us who can we blame if they do not continue to play.
By the way, i checked out Claire Watt site and the MP3 sample#s there sound really nice. I just purchased a copy on there.
Where is she from do you know? Must be Clare somewhere as there is a link on her site to an article on RTE about her and a meeting of teen musicians in GLOR in Ennis that is on today and again in August I think.............
Sounds like it goes with what I was saying earlier about playing with the younger musiocians.
