hi I'm looking for some information about sessions in london. I'll spend all the summer in london and would like to visit as much as I can. Also, if you have any idea about accomodation I'll be very pleased with you. Hope to see you all in the sessions

Does anyone have any idea of accomodation?
It would be a great help.

Re: sessions in london

No don't worry about phoning the contacts - just turn up, tell them you heard about the session and ask somene if you can join in; naturally they'll say yes. I would reccommend the orterhouse on a Sunday simply because it's a really friendly session. In terms of accommodation, what type are you looking for?

Re: sessions in london

I've also heard that the Porterhouse in Covent Garden is good for a friendly Sunday afternoon session so I'd second Conan's recommendation.

This subject came up recently on the Irtrad-l mailing list and the Porterhouse session seemed to be recognised as the most welcoming.

I haven't been to it myself but I keep meaning to get around to it.

Re: sessions in london

What about the stags head...is that still running, I heard someone say it was more of a gig - but I'm assured from one of the musicians thats its a session.

Re: sessions in london

Hi. I`m on this again. Answering to Conan: I'm looking for a room to stay during the summer. A place to set my few things. Not very expensive and able to be shared with my girl that is coming with me. She sings, plays Bodhran and fiddle and I play the guitar ( at least I try). Thanks for your help and interest. Hope to see you on sunday since I'm flying on saturday.

Re: sessions in london

Andybanjo - I'm a West Londoner, so I'm not the best person to ask about S.E. London, but I know of a session at the New Cross Inn, New Cross on a Sunday night (starting about 9pm). I posted more precise details of its whereabouts in a recent thread.

For anyone else, I've posted other info on London sessions before, some of which Conan may not have mentioned. You'll find it by doing a subject search on "London".
