Re: SLPC Summer Tionól with David Power - GREAT TIME!!
The piping was almost anti-climatic as opposed to the nights in the pubs! It was a killer weekend, and we hope to have David back again within a year to do it all again!
Re: SLPC Summer Tionól with David Power - GREAT TIME!!
Looks fun. I had a few lovely tunes with David when he was in St Paul. It was brilliant. My friend invited me to the pre-tionol party and I sat down at the table with the lads. There was some serious instrument swapping going on, lots of chat about makers, reeds, ivory and whatnot. What I found very interesting was the variance in tone and delivery that each piper got out of the same set.
Later, I took out my fiddle and offered it up; I was only mildly surprised to be taken up on the offer. David played a few tunes on the fiddle, as did Tommy Martin. Then I played a few; David took out his pipes and I tuned down to C. A good while later, David fell asleep to a fiddley slow aire. Must of been that fresh Minnesota air.
