Re: blazin in beauly!

I was just speaking to Aidans girlfriend last night! and Aiden this morning, (been trying to find someone to borrow a viola off to do our CD recording next week, but everyone i know so far is away!!) say hi to him from me when you see him, should be a fun festival! Their all mad, mad i say, mad, muh ha ha ha ha...... (i'm not though!)
Would quite like to go to it actually, will see what i'm up to around that week, think i might be away..... hmmmmm, will let you know! But will probably know you by then anyway as you'll have started the course at the RSAMD by then. There are a few people in starting the trad course in first year next year that i know, Ross Ainsley (plays pipes and whistles and bouzouki) plays in our band and he's starting as is Kevin O'neil, who is a fantastic flute player (think he got 2nd in the all irleand this year) - pretty good for a scot! Maybe see you soon!

Re: blazin in beauly!

Hey, im goin to rsamd to do trad music too!!! Wat do you play? I only know a couple of people who r going, cant wait, shud be a great course. Iain Fraser says theyr maybe helping start a similar course in Donegal studying trad irish, so we mite all get to go to ierland :-) So annoyin that the course means we cant go to beauly, i went last year and it was excellent ( this is not an advertisement!) Im gonna go for the frisday nite cheildh and concert on the last nite.

Re: blazin in beauly!

hi *weescottishfiddler*!
I thought i might have made that mistake when i posted that reply... i've got it sorted in my head now!!

As for the other, yes Ross is the guy who played pipes in the young trad musician. Myself, Ross and Sean (guitarist who played for Jamie Smith (fiddle) at the same concert) all play in a band with Emily Smith who won the event. CD out in august!

We are playing in edinburgh on the 20th sept in the HUB, if your round for that!
See you later.

Re: blazin in beauly!

I see this is a scottish thread - so sorry in advance for my ignorance, Jamie, - who is the Jamie Smith the fiddle player?

Re: blazin in beauly!

Jamie Smith is a really good friend of mine who is a fantastic fiddle player, think he won the first prize in the scottish mod and the all britain mod (or fleadh - is that how you spell it?) on fiddle (irish style). Hes moving (or has moved) to london soon though.

p.s. cheers weescottishfiddler!!! - if your coming to glasgow, drop me an email, we can play tunes!

Re: blazin in beauly!

Hey Lauren and Lyns

Yeah right you are not trying to advertise this course, however I also totally recommend it.

Also I recommend going to Sabhal Mor Ostaig in Skye. It is fantastic.
