Music shops in Cambridge?

Music shops in Cambridge?

I'll be in the UK for a few days later on this month and will be staying in Cambridge. Is there a decent music shop with a good selection of Irish Traditional music (cds)? I'm thinking something like Custy's but maybe that's a lot to hope for.

Thanks,
Avi

Re: Music shops in Cambridge?

Do you think you might make it to London for a session?

Re: Music shops in Cambridge?

I would love to come to London for a session but...I doubt that my schedule allows for it or any other fun things. This is an urgent business trip. Still - what did you have in mind? :)

Cheers,
Avi

Re: Music shops in Cambridge?

That depends when you're in London, and whether you would rather meet me or avoid me. I am usually at Power's, Kilburn on Sundays and The Duke of York, Hanwell on Mondays.

If you were able to get into London on Sunday, you might consider The Porterhouse, as it is central and very accessible. It is an afternoon session (4pm - 7pm approx.), so you could easily get back to Cambridge the same day if you needed to.

All of the above are listed in the 'Sessions' section. Let me know if you decide to go to any and I'll make a point of being there.

Re: Music shops in Cambridge?

Hmm...well there used to be a shop called "Andy's Records" in town but I'm pretty sure it's closed down. There may also be a place called "Parrot Records"... I don't know of any really good trad music shops unfortunately! Sorry that's not very helpful. However there's lots of good music going on - check out the Labour Club on Mill Road on Thursday nights, the folk club at the Portland Arms or the Rathmore Club on Cherry Hinton Rd.
