Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
Owing to varying requests for contributors not wanting to be 'up top' for various reasons, I have randomised the appearance order of everyone on http://worldfiddlemusic.co.uk/mightycraiconline/ .
Any new entries will now be placed at the top of the page.
Previously posted pics and mp3s : I have a stack of unidentified musical materiel from members who submitted their work last year. I can make a rough guess as to who might own what, just by looking at the filenames - but you can never be sure, and I don't have the time to listen and make guesses. So - I'm going to upload them to
http://www.berzen.se/jimdorans/whoareyou (should be accessible in a day or two).....
and you can look there. If you recognize your work, email me via thesession.org and I'll progress it from there.
I'm going to have to do some audio pre-processing on some of these tracks, so they won't be uploaded all at once. Just check from time to time to see if you're there.
Re: Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
Since I don't like being on top, you've really done it now. I'll have to submit first mine and then maybe Will's to make sure I don't have to be on top.
Re: Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
Pingu,
That Gold Ring sounds excellent--if that's from a regular public session as it sounds, must be a great one. Would enjoy hearing longer recordings if you have more to post.
Re: Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
Nice work Andee! I play the same setting, more or less, of Cooly's, and I had to work out the Tailor's Twist for a student recently, so I played along with you on my concertina -- s'fun
Re: Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
Thanks Doug. In actual fact I remember I was struggling slightly with that tune at the time! I was mostly hanging on with the box player Christian who is a phenomenal talent. That was from a representative local session, but a *good* local session. There are quite a few more of the same type of recordings circulating, I guess Jim has some of them, but I could easily submit more.
Re: Mighty Craic Online - Change of Policy & Extra Site Location
The very same Rab C. Nesbitt, grego!
It started off with me posting to one of the old The Mighty Craic threads, saying I was too late to submit. The guy Tusong in Chicago said no, do submit something, but all I had was some audiotapes of some sessions where I was tagging along with some extremely talented young musicians. He said tapes were fine, so I sent them off. Since then, the tracks have been around a bit, finally ending up in Southampton UK with Jim.
I dunno how much Jim has finally ended up with, but I originally submitted quite a few tracks with me and these guys! I can always re-submit, and loads of stuff, but I'm sorry I haven't advanced beyond audio tape format.....at least for these recordings.
Yeah the clinking glasses was a clever little touch my producer thought up, to give it that Irish pub feeling.....

That DANNY1M clip sounds like it was fun to participate in, right down to the clinking glass.
Would than be pingu/Lord of the Flies/Domhniall Mac Aoidh/ets., etc.. ?
