For anybody in the Philadelphia area, there are 2 nice looking concerts coming up this week.
In case anybody missed the post a few weeks ago, there is going to be a Johnny Cunningham Tribute Concert at the Sellersville Theater on Thursday (Feb. 3) at 8 PM. More information is available at www.st94.com.
Also, on Friday (Feb. 4) at 8:30 PM, Wendy MacIsaac, Buddy MacDonald, and Patrick McGillis are playing at the Irish Center/ Commodore Barry Club. I know it's Cape Breton and not Irish, but it should still be good. More information is available at www.philadelphiaceiligroup.org.
Just another note. Both of the above venues are quite intimate and the music can really get the places bouncing. Definitely worth checking out.
I should also add that the Cunningham tribute concert features Phil Cunningham, Kevin Burke, Susan McKeown, Seamus Egan, and Aidan Brennan. Tickets are $29.50, and proceeds will benefit the Johnny Cunningham Foundation which supports traditional musicians.
Cost for the Cape Breton concert is $15, and this supports the Philadelphia Ceili Group so that they may continue to bring various ITM acts to the Philly area (I'll post others as the time approaches).
