A nice quiet boring weekend

A nice quiet boring weekend

It is my intention after the excesses of Xmas and New Year to spend a nice quiet weekend at home. Hopefully, I'll be able to recharge my batteries before the hectic onslaught of Celtic Connections.
So, no sessions or boozing though I'll practise/play a few tunes in the house and
I may even have a can of beer or glass of wine as long as it's ancilliary to a meal. :-) I'll probably not venture outside much at all except to the shops or the leisure centre to use the swimming pool/gym. If I'm really energetic, I might even tidy the house!!!

Any one else able to do this or fancy such a novel experience for a little change? Or are you all addicted socialites(in the non gender specific sense)? :-)

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

I thought I'd be doing something similar, but a friend just called and invited me to a session Sunday night, there goes Monday !!

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

This would be the perfect weekend to have nothing to do as I've just moved this week and have a ton of stuff to organize/throw out/put away. But unfortunately I'm jammed. Gig on Saturday night, parents' house on Sunday afternoon, and a session on Sunday night. The fun never ends.

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

No! Absolutely not JJ. I'm going to go to as many sessions as I possibly can, that aside, there are quite a few gigs coming up this month and beyond.
I have a glass of wine in my hand (well, very close by anyway), and the house will just have to do.
I therefore must fall into the latter category.
Enjoy whatever you do, a the best......dougie.

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

I'm looking forward to a nice quiet weekend as well. Of course I'll want to play until my fingers bleed (just an expression) if left alone in the house with my fiddle. Glass of wine between tunes sounds just about right. As far as the house......my tombstone isn't gonna say "her house was clean" but it might say "She had a good time"

Have fun
Mary

Yea!!! Words of wisdom, Mary. Not having the luxury of the nice, boring weekend, it's either polish a couple of tunes or polish the kitchen floor. Scr*w the floor. (:-}

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

I just got back from a dance, and I don't plan to go anywhere else for a long time. I'll be home all day Saturday, anyway, since my kid will have the car. I have projects waiting. And games to play with my family.

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

So far so good. It's only a very small interlude as I'm going to CC on Monday for a pre festival reception and it starts in earnest on Wednesday.

So, not too much rest for the next few weeks. :-)

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

This is my first weekend to be called "week-end" for the last half-year. No weddings, no funerals, no work, no emergiencies or any other obligations. So I planned my Saturday carefully for it to be my perfect day. I got up with a slight, pleasant hangover and decided to do something unusual, which I didn't do for ages. Walk in the park with a girl - a tremendous experience!

And today it's just me, guitar and CDs (and capo, and metronome, and whistle, and...)

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

Janek, what do you usually walk in the park with?

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

Jack, I usually walk with a dog. Yes, a dog, medium-sized furry animal. We talk about the weather and what we've seen lately in the TV, then I take him for an ice-cream in a cafe. We have to eat the ice-cream outside, because the dogs are not allowed inside. Then we sometimes go for a film, we cannot agree on which movie to watch, but eventually we go to see the next part of "Beethoven" or just go home and watch another Lassie episode.

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

But you know, it's totally different with a girl - they let her inside the cafe.

Which is much more convenient in the winter.

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

Maybe you should try a girl dog?

Re: A nice quiet boring weekend

It's amazing to get so many replies about very little.
This is my last quiet day so I'd better make the most of it. :=))
